Back at It: My Journey to $1.00 in Affiliate Sales
Hey there, welcome back!
In my last post, I gave you a little backstory about how I went from working full-time to being medically retired and why I’ve decided to dive back into digital marketing. If you missed it, go ahead and check it out here. Starting at the beginning might help things flow better.
This time around, I’m giving affiliate marketing another shot. But before we get into the nitty-gritty of my next steps, let’s bust a common myth that’s floating around the internet…
Affiliate Marketing: It’s NOT What You Think!
You’ve probably heard it before: “Affiliate marketing is easy! Just sign up as an affiliate, slap your link everywhere, and watch the money roll in!”
Well, let me stop you right there. That’s not marketing – that’s spamming. You may as well print out a thousand business cards with your affiliate link and plaster them all over car windshields in the mall parking lot. Trust me, it’ll have the same effect.
The real challenge of affiliate marketing isn’t becoming an affiliate; it’s in the marketing part. It’s about building trust, creating relationships, and convincing someone to spend their hard-earned cash on a product they may not even know about – all based on your recommendation.
This Time Around, It’s Different…
Last time I tried this, I didn’t have any money to invest properly. I cut corners, tried to do everything for free, and guess what? I got what I paid for – zilch.
But this time, thanks to a little payout, I’ve got some funds to play with. That allowed me to do something different: I hired a mentor. Yep, someone who’s actually done this before and can help me navigate the stuff I still don’t know.
Finding the Right Mentor (No Scammers Allowed!)
I did my homework before picking a mentor. There’s no shortage of flashy gurus promising to take you from zero to a million bucks in three months. Tempting? Sure. But my bullshit detector, honed after 15+ years working in a maximum-security prison, went off more than once.
Eventually, I found someone who didn’t promise me the moon – just real, actionable advice from someone who’s still in the trenches doing affiliate marketing. No empty promises, no flashy sales pitches – just solid guidance.
My Goal: Make $1.00 (Yep, Just One Dollar)
Okay, let’s get real for a second. In all my previous attempts at affiliate marketing, I made exactly one sale. And that was to a friend – so, does that even count? I don’t think so.
This time around, my goal is simple: make one sale to someone I don’t know. One dollar. That’s it. Because if I can make $1.00, I can repeat the process and scale up.
Consistency is Key (Cue the Dory Reference)
Once I hit that $1.00, the key will be to keep going. If I stop there, that’s all I’ll ever make – one sad little dollar. But if I stay consistent, I’ll build momentum, and those sales will keep coming in.
It’s like Dory from Finding Nemo – just keep swimming!
Keep writing blog posts, keep learning about traffic, and eventually, it all pays off. I may even dive into Facebook ads and start a YouTube channel (stay tuned for that!).
Want to Help Me Hit That First Sale?
Here’s the fun part: If you’re following my journey and feeling generous, you could be the person who helps me hit that first $1.00. No pressure, but hey, someone’s gotta be first!
If you want to help me out and learn more about my mentor, Dean Holland, just click the banner below. Dean’s the real deal – he’s not just teaching affiliate marketing; he’s still doing it himself and crushing it.
Stay Real, Stay Consistent
At the end of the day, it’s all about being genuine. Like Wayne Dyer says, “We do not attract what we want; we attract what we are.” So, if you’re out there trying to start your own affiliate marketing business, keep this in mind: be real, be honest, and be consistent.
What goes around comes around, and I’m pretty sure I’m attracting the right people to this little corner of the internet – people like you.
Thanks for sticking around and reading my post. You’re one of the good ones, and I appreciate you.
Until next time,
Sean Street
